Kim Thompson is currently a Private investigator in Colorado working for Ross Investigations and handles many different cases from personal injury, civil liability and criminal defense. With a long-standing career in public safety and training, Kim Thompson mis a licensed Private Investigator (California License #2000-2014) and the founder of Command Concepts in Northglenn, Colorado. Since 1999, she has developed and manufactured The Command Board, a nationally recognized field tool used by thousands of first responders and agencies across the U.S. and abroad. This tool helps Incident Commanders manage and document critical incidents in alignment with NIMS protocols. In collaboration with federal, state, and local agencies, [Name] has helped standardize incident management practices through practical field-based training and product development. Earlier in their career, she served as a contract trainer for the U.S. Department of Justice, training specialized law enforcement teams in active shooter response using advanced Fire Arms Training Simulator technology. This work emphasized tactical performance, team coordination, and scenario-based assessment. Kim also dedicated over 16 years to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, serving in a range of leadership and instructional roles. These included Sergeant assignments with the Force Training Bureau, Operation Safe Streets Gang Enforcement Team, and Patrol Operations at the Lakewood and East Los Angeles Stations. Notably, She was awarded the Professional Achievement Award by the California State Women’s Peace Officers Association for proactive gang enforcement efforts. Earlier positions included Recruit Training Instructor and Gang Investigator, with extensive experience in patrol, investigations, warrant writing, and community liaison work.

As the CEO and founder of Smoking Gun Forensic Extraction, based in Northglenn, Colorado, Tommy brings cutting-edge forensic services to legal teams, law enforcement agencies, and private clients. His expertise lies in conducting forensically sound extractions from smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices, recovering vital digital evidence such as deleted messages, photos, call logs, and location data. With a strong commitment to preserving data integrity and adhering to strict chain-of-custody protocols, Tommy provides comprehensive, court-admissible reports that are critical to the resolution of criminal and civil cases. Prior to launching his forensic firm, Tommy served for over six years as a police officer in both Longmont and Louisville, Colorado. During his law enforcement career, he handled a wide array of complex and high-stakes investigations involving homicides, domestic violence, child sex assaults, missing persons, and mental health crises. His background includes advanced training in accident reconstruction, crisis intervention, Krav Maga-based arrest control, and firearms tactics. Tommy also assisted with SWAT, surveillance, and undercover operations—demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to public safety. His ability to communicate effectively, analyze situations critically, and navigate high-pressure environments continues to inform his approach to forensic analysis and evidence interpretation today. Beyond his public service, Tommy has worn many hats, including Vice President of Sales and Warehouse Manager at Command Concepts and a licensed REALTOR® with Keller Williams. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and an Associate degree in Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado, as well as Colorado P.O.S.T. certification and numerous technical and tactical credentials. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, investigative acumen, and passion for justice, Tommy Thompson is a dedicated professional who brings depth, discipline, and credibility to every case he touches.

Matt Seavey

Matt Seavey is a highly accomplished investigative professional with over 30 years of experience in both public service and private sector investigations. He has served as a Deputy Sheriff, U.S. District Court Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Investigator, paralegal, and licensed private detective, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each role. His distinguished career includes long-standing affiliations with premier national security and intelligence organizations, such as the FBI Infragard National Security Program, the International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association, the Colorado Information Analysis Center, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Human Trafficking Alert Team and National Disaster Resilience Council. Matt holds an active U.S. Government Secret Level Clearance. He is also a Commercial Drone Pilot in the United States and Europe with specialized clearance for operations over people and moving vehicles. Currently, Matt serves as an Investigator for the Commerce City Police Department in Colorado, where he conducts in-depth background investigations for prospective department personnel, collaborating with other agencies to ensure thorough and impartial assessments. Since 2009, he has also worked as the President and Lead Investigator with Global Investigations, Incorporated, where he specializes in Accident Investigation, manages surveillance and investigative teams, and routinely testifies in court. In addition to his work in criminal and civil investigations, Matt is a Certified Accident Scene Investigator. He is skilled in computerized accident reconstruction, enabling him to accurately analyze traffic collisions and present detailed, evidence-based findings. With a solid academic foundation that includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, paralegal certification, and legal studies at the Juris Doctorate level, Matt combines his legal acumen with hands-on field expertise. His skill set is defined by his keen analytical abilities, adaptability, conflict resolution strengths, and deep understanding of investigative practices and legal proceedings.
